Street design can have a profound impact on our communities. A well designed street feels more welcoming to people, feels more like a community, and helps attract customers to businesses. A street designed like a highway does the reverse - it isn't welcoming to people, and discourages the kind of serendipitous harmony a small town Main St encourages.
We want to inspire people all over Los Angeles to rethink their streets!
Here’s how this will work:
1 - Pick a major street in your area that you think could use some love.
2 - Fill out the form below, choosing how you’d like to see the street changed, and upload a high quality screenshot of a Google Street View of the intersection you want to rethink.
We’ll go through all entries and select a few to actually take on. This will include doing a before/after rendering by professionals (like the example above of Venice Bl) and presenting this to LADOT and the Councilmember to try and make it a real project! We’ll work with you and your community if we get to this stage.
