Marina Central Park
What if we could transform one of LA’s least used freeways into a massive park, 4000+ homes, bus lines and bike paths.
Marina Central Park is a concept that re-imagines the space currently taken up by the Marina Freeway (CA-90). In place of the freeway would be 4,000 units of affordable housing, new retail space, one of the largest parks in L.A. County, bike trails, dedicated bus lanes for a future Bus Rapid Transit line between Lincoln Blvd. and Sepulveda Blvd, and car lanes. This is a massive opportunity for LA, currently one of the most park poor, and housing poor counties in California. It would reconnect a walkable street grid with new access to Centinela Creek, a new linear path and green space, the existing Ballona Creek trail, and the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve.
